Question:
I have a bow stop installed on my trailer and it works great but it leaves terrible looking black smudge marks on the fiberglass Hull. Is there a solution for this? Can I cover it with bunk carpet? If so, is there a specific glue you would recommend? Thanks

Expert Reply:
Since your Yates Y-Style Bow Stop # YR4Y22-3 leaves a smudge mark, you can use marine grade bunk carpet like # FCR8008 in between to assist. There isn't a glue specifically made for that type of application so I recommend using a solvent based contact cement.
There are some non-marking bow stops, but the Yates Y-Style Bow Stop for Boat Trailers - TPR - 6-1/2" Span - 1/2" Shaft - Yellow # YR333Y isn't just an easy swap.
