I have the perfect solution for you!
Take a look at the Hopkins EasyLift # 74211. I have linked a video showing how the EasyLift works. Since you currently have to get your knee involved to close the tailgate the EasyLift will be the best solution for you. It will also help with lowering the tailgate. Please note that these EasyLift and DeeZee Tailgate Assist models will not fit if your truck has a stepside bed.
The DeeZee Tailgate Assist # DZ43203 will make it easier to lower your tailgate but does not make it easier to lift.
