I definitely recommend adding an anode rod to your water heater if one is not already present. An anode rod can drastically extend the life of your water heater by attracting corrosive elements, protecting the tank from corrosion.
We do have a nice selection of anode rods available, for which I have provided a link. If you can tell me the brand and capacity of your water heater, I will be happy to recommend an anode rod that should work well. For example, the Camco RV Water Heater Anode Rod # CAM11593 is designed to fit 10-gallon Atwood heaters.
