Question:

hello i have a 2000 chevy 3500HD would it be better for me to use the standard 3500 hitch plate for pintle or the item you have for the 4500/5500 truck is a 15000# gvwr do you have or is there a difference in the frame size cutout in your plate? i have the standard 34inch wide setup wondering about the up and down dimension for the frame it would slide onto? also i was wondering what the difference is in the chevy 1/2inch plates that makes them have a 15000# tow cap as opposed to the standard 20000# of other vehicle brands?

Your 2000 Chevy 3500 is not considered to be a medium duty truck so Buyers Products Hitch Plate with Pintle Mount # 3371809038A would not be the best option for you. For the 3500 we have # 3371809035A. But since they have to be welded on and bolted on you could technically use either one. I have linked videos of each for you so you can see how they compare to each other.

Capacity is given based on several factors including the vehicle it is being installed on, the design of the plate, and how and where it attaches to the truck.
