Can Spacers be Used for Installation of Curt Hitch on 2018 Lexus GX 460?
Updated 05/25/2018 | Published 05/24/2018 >
Question:
I purchased the Curt 13043. Instructions say to bolt right on. However, when I do so it slightly compresses/distorts the rear plastic panel. I am considering purchasing spacers to place between the hitch and the frame of the car, at each bolt, to lower the height of the hitch by 1/8 to 1/4 inch. A post above suggests removal of that narrow panel, or cutting that panel, but I would prefer not to do so for appearance. Are the use of spacers stainless steel a safe approach? in the alternative, does the slight distortion of that panel really matter? If not, I can simply bolt it on. Thanks.

I do not recommend using spacers to install the Curt # C13043 hitch on your 2018 Lexus GX 460; it needs to be flush against the bumper bracket of your vehicle. I do recommend trimming that panel slightly to remove the slight distortion and ensure the hitch is installed level.
