Does it matter what sidewinder I get

Expert Reply:
The Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16115 will fit the industry standard base rails compatible with your 2017 Ford F-150. If you don't have the base rails yet, then I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50087-58 confirmed to fit your truck. These brackets won't require drilling into your truck frame.
If you want to use the kit # C16116, it will work with your truck, but you will need to drill into your frame for the correct fit and it will take about twice as long to install the brackets for the base rails. This is a great option if you are mechanically inclined to do the work yourself and save some money, but if you have a shop do the work, you may end up in the same cost range based on labor expenses.
With the 5.5 foot bed, you will need to use a Sidewinder pin box to get the correct turning clearances to prevent damage to your truck or trailer. I recommend using the custom wedge # RP64FR with this hitch for the best fit with a Sidewinder. I've linked the page to your Sidewinder options to assist.
