I previously purchased base plate for a 1996 Ford ranger, recently purchased a 2001 Ford ranger will the base plate bolt up to my 2001. Thank you.....

The base plate kit you purchased for your 1996 Ford Ranger is part # 435-3 which fits up through 1997. It looks like there was a generation change with the Ranger for the 1998 model year. So, unfortunately, the kit you have will not fit on your 2001.
For your newer truck the Roadmaster kits we have are part # 483-1 for the XL and XLT or part # 477-1 for the Edge. Either kit works with whatever tow bar you were using to tow the 1996 truck because they have the same type of connections.
