Why Would Trailer Interior Lights Not Work with Breakaway System Installed

Question:

The Interior cargo lights do not work when the Hopkins breakaway battery charger is wired into the trailer. The breakaway charger is new and the battery is fully charged. When I bypass the breakaway charger, the interior cargo lights work. The trailer breakaway tested good.

Sounds like you have the 12 volt power circuit of your trailer either running to only your breakaway battery or only the trailer lights. Most likely the issue is the connection that you are making from the battery to the 12 volt system. Make sure that the connection is solid and allows both circuits to be active.
