Can Split Ring Washer and Flat Washer be Used Instead of Conical Washers for a Fastway System
Updated 05/01/2018 | Published 04/30/2018 >
Question:
I see in this Fastway replacement hardware kit that it comes with 3/4 inch flat washers instead of the 3/4 inch toothed conical washers that my originally purchased kit came with. Can split ring washers and flat washers be used with the nyloc nuts as a suitable replacement for the conical washers? Ive had problems with my setup with the conical washers loosening up and Im trying to find methods to prevent it.

Since the Replacement Bolt Kit # FA92-02-9600 has lock nuts with it you most certainly can use split ring washers with the flat washers. My contact at Fastway confirmed this.
If you are having troubles with the conical washers coming loose you may want to ensure that you have the 3/4" shank bolts torqued to 250 ft-lbs as is specified on pages 20-21 of the installation instructions.
