Question:
I have a 2010 Toyota sienna. It has a tow bar and 4 flat trailer wiring. I want to tow a small popup camper that has standard RV connector. I found an adapter that has 4 flat to 7 round... But not sure what else is needed to make sure rv electric brake, battery and aux power is connected. Is there an out of box solution for this for my vehicle or do I need to custom fit this myself? Do you have a video or something you can point me to for this application?

A 4-Way to 7-Way adapter like the Tow Ready # 30717 is perfect for plugging right into an existing 4-Way like you have on your Sienna and providing a 7-Way on the other end to match up with the 7-Way on a trailer. After this simple connection, this adapter will be able to power the trailer's basic signal lights. In order to activate the 12V pin on the connector and power the trailer's electric brakes, the additional wires coming out from the adapter will need to be connected.
If you already have an adapter like this, you will need to add the Wiring Kit # 5506, which includes the additional wiring you will need to make these connections. On the adapter, the blue wire will connect to the brake output wire on the brake controller, the black wire will connect to the vehicle battery with circuit breaker that is included in the above mentioned Wiring Kit, the yellow wire is for auxiliary power or reverse lights (which may not be needed), and the white wire is for ground.
If you do not yet have the adapter, a better route to take will be with the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This kit includes everything you need to install a fully functional 7-Way from your existing 4-Way, along with the needed wiring for a brake controller. I have attached a great article that details the installation steps for this kit that you might find helpful.
Then, to power the trailer brakes, you will also need to install a brake controller on your Toyota Sienna. For this, I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. This is an excellent, proportional controller that will activate the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your Sienna. It features a digital display, 3 boost levels, and continuous diagnostics that will alert you to any potential issues.
