Question:

I looked at the photo in your previous response regarding this vehicle. Our black roof rails that are on the vehicle do not have grooves so can a rack still be attached?

It sounds like your 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee simply does not feature the E Group package, which would have a metal strip that runs along the side rails. Without the E Group package, the flush mounted rails just consist of straight black plastic.

Since you do have flush mounted rails that run front to back, and you do not have the E Group package, I recommend the Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack. This system consists of # TH711520 for the two 60 inch WingBar Load Bars, # TH480R for the Rapid Traverse Foot Pack, and # THKIT1656 for the Fit Kit. This will give you an extremely aerodynamic, quiet roof rack that has a weight capacity of 220 pounds. The mentioned Fit Kit consists of mounting brackets that will attach to the black roof rails on your Jeep and provide a base for the Foot Pack.
