Question:
Are there any plans to have a trailer hitch for the Ioniq Electric model? The car is not rated for towing but I would like to mount a bike rack to it.

Expert Reply:
If there is enough demand then the hitch manufacturers will make a hitch for the electric version of the 2017 Hyundai Ioniq. But as of right now I have not heard of one in the works. Right now the only way to carry bikes on your Ioniq is a roof rack.
The most cost effective option is a Yakima rack using the following parts:
CrossBars # Y00408
BaseLine Towers # Y28TR
RoundBar SL Adapter # Y03536
BaseClip Fit Kit (front) # Y06175
BaseClip Fit Kit (rear) # Y06111
Then you could add a bike rack such as the HighRoad # Y02114.
