First, I recommend unplugging your controller for about 20 minutes and then reinstalling the wiring harness. This will reset the controller and will allow it to reboot if it didn't boot correctly causing the error.

If you still get the internal error message, then there is a problem inside the brake controller and it will need to be replaced. There are no serviceable parts inside, so it will require a complete replacement. This is a rare issue but the controller does have a limited lifetime warranty, so the manufacturer should take care of you provided it is a manufacturing error that caused it to fail.
