The maximum gross trailer weight (GTW) and tongue weight (TW) capacity of your 2004 GMC Yukon will vary from 5,700 lbs to 12,000 lbs depending on chassis (1500,2500,3500), drive (2WD,4WD), gear ratio (3.42,3.73,4.10), and GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating). The easiest way to tell the true towing capacity of your vehicle would be to find both the GCWR and the Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). These figures can be located on the information tag inside the drivers door jamb. If you subtract the GVW from the GCWR, that will give you the maximum GTW you can safely tow. The maximum TW is usually 10% of the maximum GTW.

With that being said it is not likely that the trailer hitch you have is cause the bumper to sag. This is likely due to a poor performing suspension. As time progresses the suspension components begin to wear and become less effective. I recommend first taking the vehicle to a local mechanic to have the suspension components inspected for proper function. If the suspension appears to be in good shape then I believe adding a set of enhancements will serve worthwhile.

For your Yukon, I recommend using the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TGMRG25C for 4WD or part # TGMRYS4 for 2WD models. These enhancements will reduce vehicle sag caused by the trailer in addition to providing you with increased stability and reduced boy roll.
