Question:
RE. Hitch for 2014 Subaru Forester. Curt says 12100 for a forester, your search engine pulls up c111813 instead, which does not resemble the 12100. What is the disparity? Also what wiring adapter to hook up subaru harness to std 4 wire? Thanks!

When I put your 2014 Subaru Forester into our fit guide I did not get the same results you did. I get the # C13144 for a 2 inch receiver option and # C12100 as a 1-1/4 inch option. I get the same options when I type this into Curt's fit guide. I'm not sure if we had a glitch or what, but I am confident that either of these hitches I referenced will work well for you. The # C111813 is not a fit for your vehicle and is only a fit for 1993-2002 Toyota Corolla and Geo/Chevy Prizm models.
I recommend the 2 inch receiver # C13144 over the 1-1/4 inch # C12100 because it will give you far more options for accessories and ball mounts.
If you will be using the hitch for towing, I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56040. This will install to your factory wiring which is located behind the interior trim panel in your rear cargo area. I've attached a video to help.
Finally, I recommend the # C45519 for a 1-1/4 inch ball mount along with hitch ball # C40001 for 1-7/8 inch or # C40018 for 2 inch. You will also need hitch pin and clip # F-4.
If you go with the 2 inch receiver, then I recommend the Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit will come with 2 ball mount options, two hitch ball options, and the pin and clip as well as a storage bag.
Let me know if you have further questions.
