Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations for a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4x4
Question:
Just bought a used ram 1500, previous owner never had a tow package installed so there is no factory tow package on it. Does there have to be a factory tow package on the truck for me to mount this on it or will it be fine?

Your 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 does not have to have the factory tow package to install a trailer hitch. Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 41929 was designed for 1500 Ram trucks that did not come with a factory trailer hitch (among other versions) so you're good to go.
If you plan on doing some towing I recommend an adjustable ball mount such as # C45900. This will allow you to tow trailers of different heights without needing more than one ball mount.
And for trailer wiring you can use # 119178KIT to add a 4-Way flat connector to the rear of the truck. If you need both a 4-Way and a 7-Way or just a 7-Way then you will also need # ETBC7. If you go with the ETBC7 and want to also install a brake controller then the only other part you would need is the brake controller. I recommend # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable.
