A transmission pan cooler has fins built in which allow air to move through them and cool the vehicle's transmission fluid. The depth of the pan will not necessarily affect its cooling efficiency. They can provide greater cooling for your transmission fluid however, if you find yourself sitting in traffic quite often then you would want to go with a standard mount transmission cooler.
Unfortunately, we do not have a transmission pan cooler compatible with the 6L80 you have in your 2013 Chevrolet Silverado therefore, I recommend using the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13504 which will be an excellent option for your truck so long as you have 11" wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep of space to mount the cooler in front of your radiator/condenser behind your grille. You can expect anywhere from a 20-30 degree drop in transmission fluid temperature while using this cooler.
In order to install the above cooler on your truck you will need to use the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting for GM part # D13035. For the exception of the radiator adapter, the transmission cooler kit comes with everything else you will need for installation. I have attached a sample install video of the cooler for you so you can get a better idea of how it installs.
