Question:

without opening the rear of the vehicle as shown in your installation videos how do I know if it has the factory wiring installed - also would installing this potentially void my warranty from Honda thanks

For your 2017 Honda Pilot, I recommend the Tekonsha 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118286 if your trailer has a 7-Way connector. If your Pilot has the factory tow package, then it should already have a 7-Way connector mounted beneath the rear bumper, which this would do a great job of replacing. Otherwise, even if your Pilot does not have the factory tow package, this is still a confirmed fit and will simply plug into the existing ports behind the driver side trim panel. I confirmed this with Tekonsha.

If you are just needing a 4-Way connector, then I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118760, which again will work on your vehicle whether or not it has the factory tow package.

I have attached installation videos for both of these wiring harnesses that you can use for reference.

With regards to the vehicle warranty, you are protected by a law called the Magnussen-Moss warranty act, which essentially states that installing an aftermarket product on your car will not in itself void any warranty. The installed product would have to actually cause the problem in question for the warranty to be an issue.
