Recommended Roof Rack for 2015 Toyota Prius V and Carrier for 16 Foot Double Kayak

Question:

I need to find a roof rack for our Prius V. We will mainly use it for our double kayak, but we also have a Thule roof box so it would be nice if that could also be mounted in case.

For your 2015 Toyota Prius V, I recommend the Rhino Rack Vortex roof rack. This will give you a high quality roof rack with aero bars for reduced drag and wind noise. This rack will be rated for up to 110 lbs on your vehicle. It consists of:

I also recommend getting the Rhino-Rack Locking Endcaps for Vortex Aero Crossbars - Metal Cores - Qty 4 # RRVA-LEC4 if you will be using the integrated T slots of your bars for any accessories.

If you don't have a kayak carrier, I recommend the Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier - Folding # S512. This is a strong carrier with foldable design when not in use. It comes with the straps, but you may also be interested in the anchor straps # RRRBAS-2 for an easy fit.

On this vehicle, the crossbar spread is about 28 inches so it is very likely your Thule roof box will fit on the bars but depending on the model of box you may not have the rear hatch clearance to fully open the hatch with the box installed.
