No Lights On Trailer When Using Curt Custom Wiring # C56161 On 2010 Honda Odyssey

Updated 06/21/2011 | Published 06/15/2011

Question:

I have a 2010 Honda Odyssey. I checked the trailer with a circuit tester and a external battery and the trailer lights work fine and have a good ground. When I connect the trailer to the van I have no lights at all on the trailer. When I connect a voltage meter to the trailer ground connector in the van and probe the wires all three wires have 12.5 volts coming out of them with the van not running and the ign. switch off. Is this normal. I connected the male and female plugs together van to trailer and probed in between them and the voltage goes to zero while connected.

You will want to check the converter of the Curt Custom Wiring, part # C56161. Use a circuit tester, like part # PTW2993 to check to make sure there is power going into the converter. Then check to see if you are getting power coming out of the converter. If you are not getting power coming out of the converter, it may need to be replaced.

Also, I would check the vehicle side connector to make sure there is not any corrosion in the connector which could be causing a bad connection.
