Question:
I am interested in purchasing a hitch for my 2010 Dodge Nitro. Is the Curt 13334 a fit? I will be purchasing a smaller travel trailer in the near future which should weight between 3500 - 4500lbs and want a hitch that I will be able to use to tow it. Any help regarding the difference in towing weight between the Curt and other brands would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a good day.

I spoke with my contact at Curt regarding Trailer Hitch, # 13334, and he stated that the hitch design is comparable to there other higher capacity hitches but the engineers that designed the hitch decided to rate it at 3,500 pounds, 5,000 pounds when using weight distribution.
From the research I did, your 2010 Dodge Nitro has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. Based on the weight capacity rating of the Curt hitch, it can reach that amount but you would need to use weight distribution to reach the 5,000 pound capacity of your Nitro.
To complete your towing set up, the recommended ball mount is # C45030 and you can use pin and clip # PC3. For a ball, you can use # 19260 (1-7/8 inch diameter), # 63845 (2 inch diameter), or # 63847 (2-5/16 inch diameter). For trailer wiring, use # 118554. I have included links to the installation details and n installation video for the wiring.
