Question:
Can I weld a sway bar ball mount tab to the side of the hitch balls to add a friction style sway bar

I may have an option for you but unfortunately, I cannot recommend you weld a sway control tab onto the side of the hitch ball on the Channel Style Adjustable Ballmount part # C45900. Instead, I recommend using the Curt Ball Mount w/ Sway Control Tab for 2" Hitches - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 7,500 lbs # D320.
The Draw-Tite Adjustable Ball mount has a 6,000 weight capacity with a maximum rise/drop of 3-3/4" and 5-1/4" respectively. I have attached a review video of this adjustable ball mount for you as well.
For a 2" and 2-5/16" hitch ball you could use the Tow Ready Interchangeable Hitch Ball Set part # 63804 which easily allows for you to switch between a 2" and 2-5/16" hitch ball. For a sway control hitch ball you would want to use the Curt Sway Control Hitch Ball part # C40093.
