Question:

Hi there, Is this Rapid Hitch Adjustable, Aluminum Ball Mount Kit w/ 2 Chrome Balls - 5-1/2 Drop as strong as steel one? We like aluminum but is it strong enough? Is it rattle? I found my 2009 MDX sit a little bit low at the hitch but the boat and trailer is still under my towing capacity and its tandem trailer. Is the problem come from my SUV is too low to the ground? Is this hitch help me rise the hitch higher will solve the problem? Pleease advise. Thanks.

This Rapid Hitch Adjustable, Aluminum Ball Mount Kit # AM3411, has towing capacities of 7,500 lbs when used with the 1-7/8 inch ball and 8,000 lbs when used on the 2 inch ball. We carry steel ball mounts that have higher towing capacities, and also some that have less towing capacities than this ball mount.

If your boat and trailer weighs less than the capacity of this ball mount than you should not have to worry about the strength of it.

You will want to pick a ball mount that will allow your trailer to sit as level as possible. Check out the FAQ article I attached on selecting the right ball mount.

This ball mount might rattle a little bit as there will be a little bit of play between the shank and your hitch, but it should not be excessive. If you are looking for an anti-rattle device I would recommend a No-Rattle Trailer Hitch Wedge # MPG908. I attached a review video for this product for you to check out also.
