Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2011 Ram 3500 with Factory Hitch Installed

Question:

I am looking for a trailer hitch for my 2011 ram 3500. I notice some mount under the factory hitch. If i were to remove my factory hitch is there a stronger replacement that still allows me to mount my bumper because the factory hitch appears to be bolted to the bumper.

For your 2011 Ram 3500, I recommend looking at the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15409. This Class V Hitch is confirmed to fit your truck and will actually fit models that have the factory hitch as well as those that don't. With that being said, I recommend keeping the factory hitch installed on your truck and installing the Curt hitch directly beneath it. You can take a closer look at the factory hitch on your truck to make sure, but these are typically welded to the frame of the vehicle. This would make it extremely difficult to remove and may actually affect the vehicle structure.

This heavy duty hitch will provide you with a 2 inch receiver opening along with a towing weight capacity of 17,000 pounds. It will fit with and retain the factory bumper on your truck.
