Does Mounting Roller Bunks on Wood Bunks Lift Boat on Trailer

Published 10/12/2017

Question:

In a previously posted question by someone else, you replied that yes, you can mount roller bunks directly to wooden bunks. My question is, if so do i need to move the wooden bunks apart a few inches to compensate for the roller bunks? And in mounting, do you recommend lag bolts or though bolts with nuts and washers? thank you,

Expert Reply:

Putting roller bunks on top of wooden bunks does raise the height of the boat on the trailer but we have found that you don't need to compensate for that in any other way aside from maybe backing the boat further down the ramp.

I'd go with nuts and bolts over lag bolts as they'll be more secure.
