With Class II hitches, Curt recommends part # 24656 for your 2003 Chevy Malibu you have to go with the ball mount that the manufacturer recommends otherwise the warranty of the hitch is voided. The Class II hitches aren't rated for very much weight so when you go with a different drop or length the leverage put on the hitch is different and the manufacturers are very cautious. For this hitch the recommended ball mount is the part # 3592 which then for a hitch ball you'd want the # 19258 for a 2 inch ball or part # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball.

For trailer wiring you'd then want the # 119178KIT.
