How To Prevent A Rough Ride While Towing 2009 Chevy Express Van 1500

Question:

I have a 2009 C1500 chevrolet express explorer conversion van. I was told it came from the factory already set up for towing. Sure enough it has a button on the dash that when depressed changes the way the engine and transmission reacts to towing. I have a class 5 hitch from etrailer and tow a 27 ft. ultra light RV with WD hitch and sway bar. The vehicle tows the trailer great except every time I have to navigate over rough highways the rear of the van begins to bounce up and down and I have to decellerate to control it. I need some suggestions on how to prevent this from happening. Thanks

I have the perfect way to help you prevent the bouncing you are experiencing while towing on rough highways with your 2009 Chevy Express Van 1500. For this, I recommend using the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2423 as this is the only real suspension enhancement option we have that is really going to control the bouncing. In addition to increased stability, installing these airbags will also improve steering control, level headlight aim, and reduce tire wear. As long as your van has 6 lugs per wheel, then this system will work well for you.

When you use a weight distribution system on a vehicle with airbags you want to first inflate the airbags to the needed psi and then set the weight distribution system up.
