The Yakima Crossbar pads, part # Y07413 are not a confirmed fit for the 017 Mazda CX-9 factory crossbars.

I instead recommend buying a full, traditional carrier for your crossbars, as you'll be happier with the long term usability and additional features you can get from a full carrier over crossbar pads. Additionally, the pads don't include any of the tie downs you'll need to safely transport the kayak.

I recommend the Thule DockGrip carrier, part # TH895. Aside from including all the tiedowns you'll need for the kayak, you'll also gain flexible saddles that mold to the shape of your hull, giving you a more secure ride and risking less damage to the kayak from bumps on the road.

These are a fit for most factory crossbars using a clamp system that custom-fits to your bars.

If you want to go a little higher end, Yakima's SweetRoll, part # Y04074 improves these with spring loaded, multi directional saddles that include load-assist rollers on the rear two saddles, making loading and unloading your kayak even easier.

In addition to these, I recommend a set of Malone Quik-Lash loops, part # MPG308 to add an easy to access tiedown point to your front hood and rear hatch, helping protect your vehicle from potential damage caused by tie-down hooks.
