Question:
Hi - I purchased this trailer with a Curt harness and one of our local CarTime stores charged two hours to install. They insisted that their books listed the trailer at 1 hour and the harness at 1 hour. That seems really high for harness. is that in the ball park? They did a good job and Im about to purchase the same trailer again. $220 for installation is just a lot.

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56040, which is confirmed to fit your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon, is a pretty straight-forward installation since it is custom-fit for this vehicle. The T-connector will simply plug into the Outback Wagon's built-in ports, which are located behind the interior trim panel in the rear cargo area. Once connected, you will just insert the 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder and installation is complete. I cannot speak for the system that your local mechanic uses to estimate install times, but an hour may be a bit high. I did speak with my contact at Curt and he stated that the harness may take up to 30 minutes to install on the high end, depending on how long it takes to remove some of the cargo panels in order to gain access to the built-in ports.
If you are looking at purchasing this same item, I recommend checking out the installation video I have attached, along with looking through the written details to see if you might feel comfortable tackling it yourself.
Then for the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch # 75673 for your vehicle, the one hour installation time you referenced is pretty spot-on. In fact, 60 minutes is what we have for an estimated installation time on this vehicle as well. Some minor drilling is required and the exhaust needs to be temporarily lowered during installation.
I have attached the written installation details on this trailer hitch that you can also check out.
