Question:
We recently bought a thule 1700 roof box for our 2011 Cadillac SRX. However, the placing of the boxs internal roof clamps and the cross bars on the automobile do not allow us to attach this. The back end of the cargo box is too long and will hit the antenna and the raised back door if installed. The shortest distance the box will provide from the back clamps to the end of the box is 26. When placed so it does not hit the antenna or the raised back door, the front clamps, in their shortest position, are well forward of the front roof rack cross bar. Are we doing something wrong or does this unit simply not fit the 2011 SRX? Thank you.

According to our fit guide, the Thule Ascent 1700, # TH605, is not a direct fit to a 2011 Cadillac SRX with a factory roof rack. In order for it to fit, according to Thule, you would need to first install Thule Evo raised rail feet, # TH710401, and Thule SquareBars, # TH712400, to provide the proper crossbar spacing to mount the Ascent.
Another option would be to go with a different box. Yakima has several boxes that they have indicated are a direct fit. Take a look at the Yakima SkyBox 18 Cargo Box, # Y07336. This box is comparable in size to the Ascent, so you may have similar issues with the rear hatch and antenna. To ensure fit, you may want to consider a shorter box like the Yakima RocketBox, # Y07192. This box is 74 inches long as opposed to the SkyBox which is 92 inches long, or the Ascent at 91-1/2 inches long.
