Can Class I Trailer Hitch For 2017 Subaru Impreza Transport Up to 2 Bikes with Bike Rack
Question:
I have a 2017 Subaru Impreza Sedan, I am having a Hitch 1 1/4inch receptor, Class 1 put on by Uhaul is Class 1 okay? My bike rack will only hold 1 to 2 bikes, but some sites are saying Class 2 is required.

All of the available trailer hitches that are confirmed to fit your 2017 Subaru Impreza are Class I models. The most bikes a Class I hitch can handle with a bike rack is 2, so you will not have any issues in terms of capacity with your existing 2-bike rack.
Some Class I trailer hitches will have a welded tab inside the hitch receiver that prevents higher class accessories like bike racks from inserting completely. Certain manufacturers do this to prevent customers from overloading lower capacity hitches and vehicles with heavier accessories. I am not sure if the hitch you are having installed has this feature (not all do), but this would be the only precaution you need to take with regards to the fitment of your existing bike rack.
Otherwise, the Curt Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11466 that we have available, which is custom-fit for your Impreza Sedan, does not feature this weld stop and will work great for any bike rack provided it has a 1-1/4 inch shank and you do not exceed the 2 bike limit. This trailer hitch has a nice black powder coat finish and a tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds. If you do decide to go this route, Curt requires that a stabilizing strap like # 18050 be used with all non-trailer loads like your bike rack or a cargo carrier.
