Performance tuners that fit your GMC 2500 can indeed deliver benefits like increased towing power and torque and they can also help improve mileage performance. All of the tuners that fit the two different engines available in your truck are shown on the linked page, such as the Edge # EP85350, which works for the 6.0L V8 gas engine.
Tuners have different programs or tunes that can be loaded into your truck's computer (where your original tune is stored for safe keeping). You can select a towing tune from among the available choices when you're pulling your camper or you can choose the economy tune when you're not. But the thing to keep in mind is that you cannot simultaneously increase power/torque and reduce fuel consumption, since more power comes about from burning more fuel.
Edge # EP85350 can deliver up to 21 more horsepower but it will not do so in every single installation since many factors affect engine performance. Twenty more horses under the hood you would probably feel but in the turbo diesel engine models you would have no trouble noticing the gains when you tow. For instance, the Edge Diesel Evolution CS2 Performance Tuner # EP85301 would provide power gains you'd have no trouble feeling!
