Will the similar sized curt extension fit, doesnt have to be pretty, just functional, or is there an extension kit available?

I do have a solution for you, however the Curt Extension # C18117 referenced in your question is not compatible with the Thule Roof Cargo Baskets.
If you are looking for a larger basket or one that can be extended, we do have a few options. The above mentioned Curt Extension will work with the Curt Roof Mounted Cargo Basket # C18115 to add 21 inches of length. We also have the Thule Roof Mounted Cargo Basket # TH859XT and compatible 20 inch Extension # TH8591XT.
