Dimensions For Lippert Components Standard Baggage Door Latch Kit # LC317649
Question:
I am looking at adding a slam latch on my outdoor kitchen hatch hinge at top and due to the limited clearance I am looking for dimension of both the latch and how far it will protrude on the inside of the hatch door. I saw the QandA answer for the latch dimension of ~1.5inch deep, but did not see any details on what the inside space requirements would be. Thanks,

I went out to the warehouse to take a look at the Lippert Components Standard Baggage Door Latch Kit # LC317649 referenced in your question. I have included an image with the dimensions labeled that you can review.
The latch measures 6-1/2 inches total in height, including the locking mechanism. For the latch base only, it is 5 inches in height. The unit measures 4-1/2 inches wide. The depth, including only the internal mounting surface, measures 1-1/2 inches. This will be the amount of space the unit protrudes inside the door. You will want your door to at least be 11/16 to 1-5/16 inches thick.
This is a very nice bagage door latch kit that will include the latch, edge cover, latch strike, keys and screws for installation.
