Question:
The Titan coupler T4853100 has 5 bolt holes, 3 are for 1/2 bolts, 2 are for 5/8 bolts. Is it suggested to use all 5 bolt holes or only the 3 - 1/2 or the 2 - 5/8? Thank you for your help.

The Titan Straight-Tongue Coupler, part # T4853100, is designed for a 2-5/16 inch ball and a 3 inch wide trailer tongue. It has a weight capacity of 21,000 lbs.
I spoke with my contact at Titan and he said that the coupler was tested with all five bolts installed. He also recommended to use grade 8 bolts. He said if you are going to be using this trailer coupler on any trailer of significant weight that he would strongly recommend to use all five bolts. The small investment in using all of the bolts to install the coupler will pay off in the long run. Using less bolts when installing the hitch could affect the amount of weight the coupler was rated for.
