We have everything you need to install the excellent Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 in your 2002 Nissan Xterra, however there is not a wiring adapter currently available for this vehicle.
In order to install the controller, you will just need a couple of items. First, if your Xterra does not already have a 4-way connector installed, you will need to install the Tekonsha Upgraded Circuit Protected Tail Light Converter Hardwire Kit # 119178KIT. This is a universal hardwire kit that will allow you to install a 4-way connector on the vehicle. It includes a circuit tester to aid with the installation. I have attached the installation instructions for you to check out.
With a 4-Way installed, you will then need the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This kit will include everything needed to install a fully functional 7-Way along with your trailer brake controller. I have attached an article that details the installation steps for this kit that you might find helpful.
I have also included a couple of additional articles on wiring and trailer brake controllers for you to check out.
