Question:
I have a 2017 Audi Q5 with the factory installed tow package. Does this require any additional equipment to utilize the electronic brakes of a late model T@B trailer? Thanks.

If your 2017 Audi Q5 does not have a brake controller already installed and if it has the appropriate wire run for a fully functioning 7-Way then all you will need is a brake controller. A brake controller is what actually sends the signal to the brakes on your trailer telling them to activate.
I recommend going with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 as it is one of the easiest brake controllers to setup and use. You will need to hardwire the following wires to the following functions since there are no adapters available for your Q5.
Blue - Brake Controller Function on 7-Way
White - Ground
Black - 12V Power from Battery
Red - COLD Side of Stop Light Switch (only gets hot when brake pedal is pressed)
If you only have a 4-Pole connector on your Q5 then you will need to install the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 so that you will have the appropriate connections and wiring that you need.
If you have a 7-Way but no wiring run for your 12V Power or Brake Controller then you will need to install the Draw-Tite Wiring Kit # 5506.
I have attached a picture of what the wiring on your Q5 should look like as some helpful articles that you can check out.
