Question:
TOWING CAPACITY AND TONGUE WEIGHT WITH 2013 MERCEDES GLK 250 BLUE TECK AND A 1&1/4 HITCH RECIEVER

Expert Reply:
For your 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK-250 BlueTEC, we don't have a 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver as a confirmed fit so I can't give you the manufacturer specs on that hitch. We do have a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver confirmed to fit. It is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13155. This receiver is rated for 3500 lbs towing and 350 lbs tongue weight max. It is not able to be used with weight distributions systems. The manufacturer puts your max towing capacity at 3,500 lbs.
For trailer or accessory wiring, I recommend the zero-contact-interface wiring harness # 119250KIT which captures signal without splicing into your factory wires.
For a ball mount, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 5" Drop, 5-1/2" Rise - 7.5K - Black # BWTS10038B. This will give you adjustability to tow level and will also give you two hitch ball options of 2 inch and 1-7/8 inch diameter. This ball mount has a really nice stowable feature for clean look when not in use. This will look nice and protect your shins when loading and unloading cargo. I recommend a hitch lock like # BX8858 to protect your investment.
