Will Cutting Fascia to Install EcoHitch Trailer Hitch on 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon Void Warranty
Question:
When installing the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2, it involved cutting the bumper. Does this affect the warranty of the Vehicle? Why do you remove and discard the foam that came with the bumper. Can I put it back on?

When installing an aftermarket product on your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon, such as the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7601 referenced in your question, you are protected by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. This act states, in part, that unless the installation (and subsequent fascia/bumper trimming) directly caused a problem, the warranty cannot be voided. Basically, the vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty simply because you cut into the bumper.
The foam padding on your vehicle's bumper will need to be removed to properly install the hitch. Installing the trailer hitch with the bumper is going to bring the bumper out a little closer to the fascia. Leaving the foam padding on will not allow the fascia to be reinstalled.
This Class III trailer hitch is confirmed to fit your vehicle and will provide a 2 inch receiver opening with a tongue weight capacity of 525 pounds. I have attached an installation video on your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon that you can use for reference.
