Recommended Hitch Extension For Truck With Large Camper Overhang

Question:
I have a truck with a truck camper with large overhang. Have a 2inch receiver installed on the truck. The distance from the receiver pin to the edge of the bumper is 39.5. I want to mount a cargo carrier basket rack 3bike combo rack. Wondering if your Tow Ready Combo Bar with 2inch Trailer Hitch Receiver - 48inch Long - Raw Finish Item #80948 can be further modified cut to size and used for this purpose? I do not intend to tow anything heavier than this cargo basket which has a max 500# capacity. Any assistance will be much appreciated. Thanks.

You can use a hitch extension but it will reduce your trailer hitch tongue weight capacity by 50 percent. We don't have a 2 inch hitch extension compatible, so I recommend a 2-1/2 inch hitch for your truck and get the Titan Hitch Box Extension for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches, 24" - 34" Long # RP45292.
The exception is the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension for SuperHitch Trailer Hitch Receivers - 42" Long # TLE1542 along with a TorkLift trailer hitch compatible with your truck.
Either of these options will work with your system. If you want some recommendations on a hitch receiver, let me know your year/make/model of truck.
