Yes, you would just need a hitch but for your 2016 Mercedes GLC300 I recommend Curt hitch # C13290.

It sounds like you are looking for a hitch cover. A hitch cover fits into the receiver and since your hitch is a Class III you will want to look at hitch covers that fit 2 inch trailer hitches.
