Question:

Looking for a trunk mount rack for 2014 Sonata. I have a Saris now but it seems the feet are too wide for the bumper. Can I use it up against the flat part of the trunk?

Since I see that you were looking primarily at 2-bike carriers we'll focus on those.

I reviewed photos of your 2014 Hyundai Sonata and indeed the bumper cover's smooth design leaves not a lot of room for the base of a trunk-mount rack. For this reason I suggest a Thule rack.
Of all rack makers, Thule tends to be the most cautious/conservative in their fits, meaning that when they test a rack on a specific vehicle they will say "no" to using that item on that vehicle unless they really are satisfied with the way it mounts, its security, etc. When Thule says one of their racks fits, it does.
