Question:
I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab and I bought part number HM37908. The 5 Way flat, to be used for a surge brake on boat trailer. My truck did not come factory with any kind of wiring harness. So, I need to know what colors on my truck to splice the wires in with so I can get it right and not burn anything up. A esay to read diagram would be helpful or any other answers you can give. Thanks for your time.

The easiest thing to do would be to install Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118393, first. There is no splicing involved with this installation. The T-connectors plug in line with the taillight wiring. I have included a link to the installation details and a video showing a typical installation.
After the harness is installed, you can install the 5-Flat Vehicle End, # HM37908. What you will need to do is cut off the 4-Way connector from the harness that was installed then splice the wires from the 5-Way to the wires that were on the 4-Way. They will match up color for color.
The blue wire will need to be connected to a reverse light wire behind one of the taillights. To make sure you have the correct wire, use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to find the wire that provides a signal when the vehicle is put into reverse.
