Troubleshooting Trailer Battery that Drains While Towing

Question:

Hello! This is a problem for pros! My problem: RV battery does not charge while driving. Honda Ridgeline 2017. Tekonsha Voyager controller. Tekonsha plug in wiring adapter. Brake controller works great, but RV battery is low when I arrive. Ive read that some other trucks need a relay to charge RV battery. How can I test my 7 pin connector to see if I have power to charge the RV battery? I see there are 7 testers available. Thanks!

Some trucks do need additional parts in order for the 12 volt pin on the 7-way trailer connector to provide power to the trailer.

To test the pin in the 1 O'clock position on your 2017 Honda Ridgeline use a circuit tester like our # PTW2993.

Also check the fuses in your Ridgeline. I used an online version of your owner's manual and found a trailer fuse in cavity 11 in the engine compartment fuse box. Check your printed copy to be sure.
