It is possible to flat tow a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 4 inch lift kit behind your RV. You will need a tow bar, base plate kit, safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system.
I looked up a copy of the owner's manual for a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 and it stated that only 4WD versions can be flat towed. For a 2WD version you will need to use a Tow Dolly, like part # RM-2050-1. If you have a 2WD just let me know and I can help you get all of the appropriate parts. You will also want to make sure to check your copy of the owner's manual for any specific instructions.
For a tow bar I recommend going with the Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain # RM-422 which is rated for 10,000 lbs and comes with safety cables. The adjustability of the arms makes it very easy to use and setup.
A base plate kit that will work perfectly with the BlackHawk 2 All Terrain is the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit # RM-3177-1 which is confirmed to fit your Sierra. I like this kit because it has removable arms which help to give your GMC more of an OEM look when you are not flat towing.
For tow bar, or light, wiring I recommend going with the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 4-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15247 which will just have to be setup once and then you just plug the connectors on the coiled wiring into the connectors on your Sierra and your RV. Since you will need to disconnect the positive terminal on your battery you might also be interested in the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch # RM-766 which makes disconnecting your battery easy by just flipping a switch.
Most states now require the use of a supplemental braking system. One of the easiest ones that we have to offer is the Roadmaster Even Brake # RM-9400 which is a portable braking system that uses proportional braking at the same rate and strength as your RV for smooth braking. Since your battery will be disconnected you will need to use the 12 Volt Outlet Kit # RM-9332 which will provide power to the Patriot.
You will also need a high-low adapter to ensure that you tow level. I have included a helpful article that will show you how to choose the correct one as well as a link to our selection of high-low adapters for you to choose from.
