Question:
Hello, I have a 2001 Honda CR-V, will the Yakima Hold up have enough clearance with the spare tire mount? Will it be able to fold up? Thanks!

To make sure you have enough clearance for a bike carrier at the back of your 2001 CR-V with a spare tire mounted, you will need to take a quick measurement. Just hold a dowel or yardstick vertically against the spare tire and let it extend below the hitch. Then measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the dowel. That is how much room you need when a bike carrier is folded up.
We have installed the Curt Trailer Hitch # 13314 on a 2001 CR-V. The distance from the hitch pin hole to the back of the spare tire is 6-1/2 inches so you would want to have at lease 7-1/2 inches clearance when choosing any hitch-mounted accessory.
The Yakima Holdup # Y02443 7-inches from the center of the hitch pin when folded up. This may be a little too close with your spare. I do have another option that will work for you.
I recommend the Kuat Sherpa 2.0, part # SH22G. This is a tilting platform-style bike carrier that measures 7-1/2 inches from the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier when folded up. The nice thing is the bike carrier can be tilted even with the bikes loaded for rear cargo access. The bike carrier includes a hitch lock to secure the carrier to the vehicle, and a cable lock that secures the bikes to the carrier.
