Recommended Roof Rack And Lock For Ladder On 2016 Ford Escape

Question:

I am looking for a system to rack mount an 8ft fold-able ladder to the roof of a 2016 Ford Escape. I would prefer something that is self locking/latching to secure the ladder to the mount and to prevent movement from of the ladder both side to side and front to back while in transit.

If you have the factory side rails on your 2016 Escape I recommend a roof rack like the Thule SquareBars. This roof rack features 53-inch square load bars, and has locks to secure the roof rack to the top of your vehicle. It has a 150-lb weight capacity. To order this roof rack you will need part # TH712400 and part # TH710401.

If you have no side rails on your roof, I recommend the Rhino Rack Square Bar Roof Rack. This roof rack installs in the fixed mounting points on the roof of your vehicle. This roof rack has a weight capacity of 165-lbs. For this roof rack you will need part # RRVA137B-2, # RRRLKVA, and part # DK375. Locks are included with this roof rack.

We do not offer load stops for these roof racks but you can use a cable lock like part # e98891. This cable is 10-ft long and can be wrapped around your ladder to secure it to the roof rack.
