We do have an option for you to consider in order to protect your spare tire from the elements. The main factor that will diminish the life of a tire is weather therefore, a spare tire cover will shield it's tire from harmful U-V rays and extreme weather.
For a 205-65-R10 tire, I recommend using the Camco Vinyl Spare Tire Cover - 21-1/2" part # CAM45261. The total diameter of your wheel is 20.5". Although this tire carrier may be a tad bigger than your wheel, it should fit just fine.
I have attached a link to a review of this spare tire cover for your viewing.
