I spoke with my contact at Westin and they said that the Westin Stainless Steel Platinum Series Oval Nerf Bars, part # 21-1680, will not interfere with any of the mud flaps on your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Extended Cab. They will be located behind the front mud flaps.
I am including a video link to Westin bars being installed on a 2009 Chevy Silverado. It is a different vehicle, but it will give you an idea of how the installation would go on your 2008 model.
