When locating the stop light switch wire, there really is no standard wire color on any vehicle. In all reality, if the manufacturer runs out of, let's say red wire, then they will most likely just grab whatever wiring that they can to finish the job.
What I recommend doing is using a Circuit Tester # PTW2993 to test the wiring on your 1999 GMC Jimmy. You will need to make sure that you connect your brake controller to the cold side of the stop light switch. This will be the wire that only gets a signal when the brake pedal is pressed.
